Why I Started Beautiful In Pittsburgh

With all the beauty blogs out there, you may be wondering why I decided to create yet another one.  Well, for one, I love fashion and beauty.  Honestly, I love all ‘girly things’.  I read all the big magazines and stay on top of the hottest beauty blogs.  But, lets be honest.  I’m not Kim Kardashian and can’t afford to spend $16000 on a purse, or $230 on a bottle of lotion.  I love fashion, but no matter how well a blog covers a pair of shoes, I’m still not going to go out and spend $600 on them.  When it comes to make-up, I love experimenting, but if it costs more than my car insurance I’m probably going to skip that particular product.

This is how Beautiful in Pittsburgh was born!  I wanted to create a blog for real women out there who want to stay on top of beauty and fashion trends, without going into debt.  For this reason you will only find affordable products and items on my blog.  What’s the sense of reading about something that we can’t afford?  Or, things that we know that we shouldn’t be able to afford, because we've all made purchases that we knew at the time was a bad idea., but sometimes you do have to splurge.

So, I invite all of you to join me on Beautiful In Pittsburgh’s mission, teaching Pittsburgh how to look like a million without spending a million!  In the meantime please share with me what your biggest ‘bad idea’ purchase was in the comments!  I’m sure we’ll all get a laugh, because we’ve all been there!

  1. My biggest bad idea purchases have to do with being too cheap. I'm all for a wonderful bargain, but I've managed quite a few cringe-worthy bargains. I need to remind myself that sometimes it's worth paying a little more for the right product. I look forward to reading more of your posts!

    1. I'm guilty of this as well! I always think "well, it's on sale so I'll buy it because the price is awesome". Then I never wear it and honestly I realize I didn't even like the item. So, I spend a ton of money on "deals" lol. If I would just stop buying stuff I don't want just because it's on sale I'd probably have more money to spend on stuff I do actually want.
